Home Care Assistance

How We Care

Our model of care is centred around highly personalised and flexible care plans designed to meet the individual and evolving needs of older Australians.
  • Hourly Care
  • 24 Hour Care
  • Hospital to Home
  • Specialised Care

Flexible care to fit your family’s needs

Home care services are provided on an hourly or around-the-clock basis. Our care workers provide support with the basics of everyday living but also have the training and experience to support those living with specific health conditions such as Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s. Care Workers are also experienced in supporting successful transitions between home and other facilities such as hospitals, respite facilities and more.

Home Care Assistance care workers are rigorously screened including full police checks for your peace of mind. Our care workers are experienced and passionate. They are monitored by our Client Care Managers who build trusted relationships with families to ensure the highest level of personalised care.

What kind of care do you need?

Care needs can be as unique as each person and can change over time. Home Care Assistance can provide the following types of care:

Hourly Home Care

Hourly home care allows for hiring our care workers on an hourly, or as-needed basis. By helping with daily activities, our care workers enable individuals to maintain their normal daily routines.

24 hour Home Care

24-hour care provides older adults with full-time, around-the-clock care, without the care worker living in the home. Those living with dementia or who are homebound due to physical limitations benefit greatly from 24-hour care. Families enjoy peace of mind knowing care workers are diligently monitoring safety, attending to daily needs and providing compassionate companionship.

Live-In Care

Live-in care workers are assigned to live with an older adult for a period of time and provide care directly in their own home. Live in Care can help with ensuring safety and consistent companionship.

Hospital to Home Care

One-on-one Hospital to Home care is crucial for a safe and successful recovery when transitioning home, after hospitalisation or moving through the care continuum via a rehabilitation or medical care facility.

In-Home Specialised Care

In-home care can provide one-on-one care appropriate for individuals requiring various levels of special care including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of care services do you offer?

Home Care Assistance offers home care on a daily and hourly basis. For more information visit our Care Services page.

In what areas of care do Home Care Assistance care workers specialise?

Our care workers are experienced and trained in the full array of specialised care requirements that commonly affect older adults. These include:

  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Dementia
  • Cancer
  • Rehabilitation
  • Orthopaedics
  • Stroke and other Neurological conditions
  • Palliative care
Why is Home Care Assistance good for older Australians?

Our experienced care workers provide safety, support and companionship.  They are highly skilled and specially trained in emotional support, nutritional guidance, fall prevention, brain-sharpening activities and even light physical activity. We go to great lengths to match the perfect Carer with the individual based on personality, life experience and commonalities.

What is Home Care?

Home care provides older Australians with one-on-one assistance from a trained carer in the comfort of his or her own home. With assistance from a Carer, seniors are able to live at home independently and maintain their quality of life. The personal attention they receive vastly improves their safety, health and happiness.

What is the difference between 24-hour care and hourly care?

With our 24-hour care service, Carers come in shifts and stay with the client around-the-clock, ready to assist with all activities of daily living and ensuring safety all hours of the day. 24/7 care provides service for those people who require close supervision at all times.

Hourly Care is exactly that care by the hour. From a
simple companion visit to transport to your GP or even meal assistance we can help with all areas of your daily activities.

What does it mean when you say “lifestyle” care?

By remaining at home, older family members are able to maintain the lifestyle they have been accustomed to despite needing some extra support. Staying at home with their own possessions and familiar surroundings, they are able to visit the same shops, restaurants, neighbours, parks and other familiar places that are known and loved.

Why is Home Care Assistance good for families?

Home Care Assistance brings peace of mind to families because your loved one is cared for by the best, most reliable Carers. On call to serve you 24/7, we eliminate the effort and worry of finding, screening, paying for and managing a Carer, therefore reducing stress for the whole family. Having an in-home Carer allows family members to enjoy quality time with their loved ones, instead of focusing on stressful day to day needs.

Do you have any brochures or videos to read/watch so that I can learn more about in-home care?

Yes, we have many resources on how in-home care can support a number of situations, including acute or chronic conditions. You will also find information about our programs, such as our Balanced Care Method, Cognitive Therapeutics Method and more.

How can I get more information?

If you would like more information contact your local office for a free in-home consultation or to speak to a professional Client Care Manager.

You can also download one of our Care Guides below to read more about our services. Should you prefer to be sent a printed copy, please contact your local office.

I have questions – is there a real person I can speak with?

Absolutely. Members of the Home Care Assistance care team are available to speak with you at any time. Please contact your local office by searching here.

Is there a Home Care Assistance location near me?

Yes, Home Care Assistance has locations serving most regions of Australia. To find a location near you, click here.

What is respite care and how can it help family carers?

Often, a family member or friend cares for an ageing loved one, but performing this role can add stress and pressure on the family relationships. Respite Care is temporary or hourly care designed to give family carers a much needed break so they can take care of other priorities in their life and prevent burnout.

Home Care Assistance care workers provide excellent help at home. Can they assist in locations besides seniors’ home residence?

Yes. We can visit people anywhere they need care. During hospital stays, our hospital care workers can provide around-the-clock companionship and monitoring for safety.

Many residents of Aged Care facilities also hire Home Care Assistance care workers to provide the personal one- to-one attention they deserve.

What happens if the assigned care worker is sick and can’t work?

If your care worker becomes ill or is unable to keep the scheduled visit, our staffing team will work to find you a qualified substitute care worker for that time.

Do you have a service contract I have to sign?

There’s no service contract with Home Care Assistance. That means you can use our services for as little or as long as you need and with 100% satisfaction.

How does Home Care Assistance screen and hire care workers?

Home Care Assistance interviews 25 care workers for every one care worker that we hire. We start by requiring a minimum of two years of verifiable experience with excellent references.

Next, we conduct thorough background checks including local and national criminal records, driving record checks and verify eligibility for employment.

Home Care Assistance care workers are covered by workers’ compensation insurance.

How do you supervise care workers?

You don’t just hire a care worker. You work with a full Care Team to ensure the highest standards of care are met. Before beginning home care services, the care team creates a schedule and a plan that covers all aspects of appropriate care, and the care worker is fully briefed on the plan. A Client Care Manager will also make regular Quality Assurance visits to ensure the quality of care is exceptional and make changes as needed.

What’s unique about the service provided by Home Care Assistance?

Our rigorous care worker selection process includes an exclusive psychologist-generated test that measures honesty and conscientiousness. We also have a PhD-developed Home Care Assistance program that is used to train care workers with proven techniques and skills for improving and prolonging seniors’ quality of life.

Our emphasis on providing long-term care from consistent, expertly matched care workers ensures quality in care and maintains familiarity and emotional stability.

Home Care Assistance specialises in 24 hour care, with care workers providing assistance, monitoring and companionship around-the-clock.

Our proprietary Balanced Care Method™ is a holistic approach to care based on the scientifically studied lifestyles of the longest living individuals in the world. Our Cognitive Therapeutics Method™ engages clients in fun and effective activities designed to promote long-term brain health.

What makes Home Care Assistance care workers such great care workers?

We start by attracting and hiring the best, most experienced care workers in the area. We screen them with the most comprehensive tests in the industry. But we don’t leave it at that. Home Care Assistance has developed exclusive training programs to provide nutrition and longevity-promoting techniques. We even have a monthly newsletter that keeps all of our care workers up-to-date on the latest insights in the home care industry.
